Railroad Friends who want efficient, safe, and prosperous railroads that serve all stakeholders.
What Railroad Friends is about:
- A viewpoint that is not from Wall Street and activist hedge funds.
- Actively work against the Ancoras of the Wall Street world and the ball and chain they are on the railroad industry.
- Oppose the E Hunter Harrison practices of Precision Scheduled Railroading (PSR).
- NO MORE MEGERS! Opposed to further consolidation of Class 1s and in favor of MORE competition in the railroad industry.
- “Stakeholders” in any Class1 railroad will be defined here as employees, unions, historical societies, shippers, especially “captive shippers,” manufacturers who depend on rail transport, and communities around the tracks and yards. “Stakeholders” in relation to railroads typically means just stockholders and investors…NOT HERE!
- The view here is that our railroads are not just businesses, but the backbone of our economy and an important part of keeping our Nation running every day. They should not be targets of shareholder activists and hedge funds that see them as a short-term piggy bank!
Above all, our railroads are a national treasure, and a couple are of national historical concern (especially CSX). Our railroads serve 1. a national security interest, 2. are of great public concern, and 3. are heavily regulated for largely safety reasons. The extremes of PSR and mergers, which are being pushed all the time by Wall Street, can place all three of these important functions of our railroads at risk. The reason why we have the economy we have here in America is because railroads are the backbone of it!
